HISTORY AND SONG NOTES

Haida is Hebrew folksong from Israel. The words do not have a direct meaning in English, and are similar to singing “lah-lah-lah” or other easy-to-sing syllables.

Haida can be used for singing and group instrument playing; the children can show the beat of the music on small percussion instruments, drums, or by using their hands to make sound. Click here to read more about group instrument playing.

This song can also be performed as a round, with older children who know the song confidently and with adult help. The round begins on the fifth measure of the song, as indicated by the number “1” in the score.
